A PhD in Population Biology, Linda Demma has the distinction of serving as both Epidemic Intelligence Officer and Senior Epidemiologist with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Her resume is crowded with over 65 peer-reviewed publications on topics ranging from infectious disease to heparin-induced thrombocytopenia to diabetes management. She has been awarded a Research Fellowship from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) Research Fellowship and has received the James H. Nakano Citation for Assessment and Epidemiology.
Dr. Demma’s has always been actively engaged research and improving the quality of patient care. Even as an anesthesia resident at Emory University, she led a project on optimizing the Maximal Surgical Blood Ordering Schedule at Grady Memorial and Emory University Hospitals. In addition, she worked on improving the accuracy of handoffs from the OR to the ICU, creating and implementing a multidisciplinary “huddle handoff checklist.”
Dr. Demma graduate Magna Cum Laude in Biology, Ecology and Evolution from Cornell University. She is currently an obstestrical anesthesiology at Emory Hospital. Later this year, she will become Director of Obstetrical Anesthesia in a large private practice hospital.
